I’m not always confident estimating how long a tattoo will take, and pricing by the piece alleviates the pressure to get things done fast. You can expect an estimate range from me before your appointment, and I won’t charge more than the upper end of that range - except in cases where we go much larger than expected, or change the placement (for example, from a thigh placement to a rib placement).

Most likely, you were requesting something outside of my abilities. In these cases I’ll do my best to suggest other artists who I believe can do your idea justice!
Sometimes there’s a mismatch between budget and concept, and in those cases I’ll touch base and see if we can work something out.
Finally, I tend to reject custom requests that require me to pull from cultural backgrounds that are neither mine nor the clients (i.e. you want a sugar skull but you don’t have Hispanic heritage)

Tipping is optional but definitely appreciated!
While tattooers set their own rates and don’t depend on tips to make a living like other service providers may, the overhead costs for tattooing are high. Monetary tips help offset my shop cut (40%), as well as supplies.

Yes! I love non-monetary tips :) I’d be delighted to receive:
little treats (no dietary restrictions)
books (especially if you read it and it touched you!)
earrings or chainmail
art that you made
flowers
food from your garden
art that you made (or that you like)
recreational substances (no IPAS though hehe)
